Listening to Collin Raye’s ‘In This Life’ will definitely make you feel the butterflies again. This is one of the Collin Raye songs that have peaked at Number One on the Billboard Country Music Charts alongside his other hits Love, Me in 1992, ‘My Kind of Girl‘ in 1995, and ‘I Can Still Feel You‘ in 1998.

This song was penned by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin as Collin Raye’s first and title track for his 1992 album of the same. It debuted at No. 58 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks and charted for 20 weeks before it gained more traction and soared to Number One, making it his second Number One single. ‘In This Life‘ also charted on the Adult Contemporary chart.

The smooth and emotive vocal delivery of this song made it one of the most-played songs in weddings back then. But until now, this ’90s country ballad remains a favorite in the wedding playlist. Aside from that, this song has also been covered multiple times.

Michael Ball included his version of ‘In This Life’ in his 1994 album One Careful Owner. The American R&B group 4 P.M. (For Positive Music) also made a cover of this song in their album Now’s The Time. Award-winning American singer and songwriter Bette Midler also recorded ‘In This Life’ for her 1995 pop album Bette of Roses. In 1996, Bette performed this song with comedian Jay Leno.

In 2000, Ronan Keating also covered it for his debut album of the same name. He also released a 3″ CD single of the song exclusively sold in Tesco stores as part of his Pepsi promotion in the same year. He also performed the song at the funeral of his Boyzone bandmate Stephen Gately who was his co-lead singer. The song charted after that performance entering the Irish Singles Chart at number 45. And in 2005, popular Irish band Westlife also made their own rendition for their album Face to Face.

Despite numerous covers, Collin Raye’s “In This Life” is still the most popular and most-listened version. You can watch him perform the song below.
