Country singer Mark Chesnutt from Beaumont, Texas, shared a health update on his Instagram account following an emergency heart surgery earlier in June 2024. In his post, he wrote, “Well folks, doc says I got a new heart! I’m recovering comfortably at home with my family. Today we sat on the porch just soaking in the sun and that beautiful Texas weather. But I can’t wait to get back to pickin’ and singin’ with all my favorite fans!”
The singer also thanked everyone for their well wishes and prayers, which he said helped and meant the world to him in his time of need. He signed off, saying, “See you soon!”
Chesnutt was set to perform in Louisiana and Texas on June 21 and 22 and in Canada for Dauphin’s Country Fest on June 30. But on the evening of June 16, he was hospitalized due to a heart health issue and subsequently underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery. Two days later, an official update was made regarding his health and an announcement that he would be canceling shows to give himself time to recuperate from the surgery. Lastly, the post also asked fans to respect the privacy of the family.

In addition to that, the singer also personally addressed his fans, sending his love and gratitude for their understanding, prayers, and support. Fans didn’t miss a beat and offered their support, telling him to take all the time he needed to recover. Dauphin’s Country Fest also posted a supportive statement following the news. In the caption, they penned, “Dauphin’s Countryfest is extremely saddened to hear the news that we won’t have Mark Chesnutt grace our stage this summer. We continue to send healing vibes to Mark and his family during his recovery.”
This health scare came months after he revealed his “extreme health issues.” In November 2023, he expressed that he had been struggling and that he had finally acknowledged that the fight was over. He made the decision to take the time to get healthy and come off the road for the next couple of months to focus on that. “I’ll see you when I return to the road in February,” he said.
Currently, the earliest tour date listed on Mark Chesnutt’s website is September 5.
