9 Best Country Songs for Your Sons and Daughters Part II 3

“You Can’t Lose Me”, Faith Hill

“You Can’t Lose Me” is Faith Hill’s meaningful song from a mother to a daughter. Faith Hill has three daughters. The song was released in April of 1996, from her album It Matters to Me. It garnered the sixth spot on the Hot Country Songs Chart. The video features Faith with women of all ages, all dressed in white, have a good time on a beach. Faith has stated that this is one her favorite. Between Tim McGraw’s song on this list, and Hill’s “You Can’t Lose Me,” the McGraw daughters are evidently loved by their parents. Keep reading.

“Wherever I go
No matter how far
My love is where you are
You won’t be lost if you believe
You can’t lose me.”

“I Loved Her First”, Heartland

“I Loved Her First” is a debut single of Heartland in 2006. It became a top hit. Ever wonder why? It is easy to know because it is heart-wrenching from beginning to end. It is sung from the side of a father on his daughter’s wedding day. Hearing this stanza makes you think it’s another party wishing another couple well. Until you come to this part and in awe, you will realize, it’s a father talking to his daughter’s man.

“From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she’d find you someday
But it’s still hard to give her away
I loved her first.”

 “My Little Girl”, Tim McGraw

And…here is McGraw’s entry! There are so many lines in McGraw’s “My Little Girl” that can bring us to tears. This is a father’s song to his daughter. He puts her diary to a song, from the day she was born until the time her father will need to give her away to another man. Just as Garth Brooks dedicates “If Tomorrow Never Comes” to his baby girl, Tim McGraw has this.

“You’re beautiful baby, from the outside in
Chase your dreams but always know
The road that will lead you home again
Go on, take on this old world but to me
You know you’ll always be my little girl.”
