On July 11, Darius Rucker and Beth Leonard officially announced that they would be going their own separate ways after 2 decades of building a family together.
Darius first met Beth at the peak of his stint with “Hootie & the Blowfish,” while Beth was working at VH1. It was an undeniable fact that it was love at first sight for Darius. Darius describes Beth to be a woman who seemed to have everything in her. It can also be remembered that Darius’ 2009 number 1 hit “Alright” was a song that places his pleasures in life into detail which included Beth.
“She and country music saved me.” Darius said.
Consciously Uncoupling
Calling off a 20 year-marriage is not an easy thing to do. The former frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish posted on his socials to explain and give further details to his marriage with Beth. He added that the decision of calling off their marriage was not an overnight decision. He clarified that he and Beth had to talk and think about their decision to “consciously uncouple.”
For the past 20 years, Darius has been grateful for Beth’s unwavering support especially when he was at the peak of being a front man for Hootie & the Blowfish. He added that marrying a musician like him was not easy as he had to be on the road for a number of days and sometimes months doing tours.
With their decision to call it quits, Darius Rucker and Beth Leonard assured everyone, especially their family, that they would still support each other as they continually help their beautiful family to grow. Darius and Beth share two children, Danielle, 19, and Jack, 15. Darius also had a daughter from his previous relationship, Carolyn. At the end of the post, the couple asked for everyone’s understanding and support as they adapt to the new stage of their lives.
Fellow Singers Expressed Support
Darius Rucker’s fellow country artists expressed their support to both Darius and Beth.
Rascal Flatts’ guitarist Joe Don Rooney posted, “Nothing but love to y’all.”
Jake Owen added, “Love to You and Your Family Man.”
While Brad Paisley wrote, “Love to you.”
Sad as this may sound, but as Darius Rucker and Beth Leonard face the biggest decision in their 20 years of marriage, let us all wish the best for the Rucker family and still support them in their future humanitarian endeavors like the Just Be You.
