Robert James Ritchie who is also known as Kid Rock entered the music industry as a part of the hip hop group “The Beast Crew” in the late ‘80s. He was called Bob by his close friends but created a stage name for himself and is now known as “Kid Rock.” He received his first recording deal with Jive Records at the age of 17. He then released his debut album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast in 1990.

For the next 20 years in his career, Kid Rock has not just made a name for himself in the music industry but has solidified himself as one of the best musicians in the world. Aside from his ability to play any instrument, Rock can both rap and sing well. Since his debut album, Kid Rock has released a total of nine albums. This includes the 2017 “Sweet Southern Sugar” which many consider as one of the finest works that Rock has produced in his career.

Since his youth, Rock has been under the limelight for a time. The way he managed to keep many personal things in private is impressive. As is fitting, it’s his prerogative to keep his private life in low profile, but here are some things that you might want to know more about Kid Rock.

Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit is a rap/rock band that consisted of Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, John Otto, DJ Lethal, and Wes Borland. During the earlier days in his career, Kid Rock would often give an opening performance for the band.

During his stints with the group, Kid Rock learned how not to treat people. Everything that he has seen that the band was doing behind the scenes did not sit right for Rock. From then on, he always reminded his band of the importance of treating people with respect. He added that those people helping them are not trying to harm them or put them into danger. Everyone is part of the team.

Kid Rock made Metallica as an example of how to treat people well. He added that spitting on people, throwing microphones at them, and getting pissed are unacceptable behaviors toward anyone. Rock wants to make sure that his band would go a long way, which is only possible through the way they treat others.

Rock may seem like a brat when the stage lights are all on him, but when he goes off stage, Kid Rock treats everyone as a part of his family. This is his secret of longevity in the industry.

Childhood

If you’ve heard Kid Rock’s song Cowboy,” it might make you wonder if he truly grew up in a trailer. But this was not the case in real life for Kid Rock. He grew up under the roof of his parents who owned a six-acre estate which has a swimming pool, a tennis court, an apple orchard, and horses.

Living in a Double Wide Trailer

Despite all the success that he had achieved from his career, Kid Rock decided to live in a trailer. With a net worth that was recorded at $80 M, it would really make you wonder why Kid Rock decided to live inside a trailer.

But though he lives in a trailer, Rock still loves luxury. He owns a private jet and has a private airstrip which is just beyond the land where he resides. This plane is a prized possession for Kid Rock. He added that he is willing to give up any luxurious home and just to reside on a double-wide trailer but he will never let go of that airplane.

He further said that having a movie theater would just be a maintenance nightmare for him because he often gets drunk, and owning a big house would be useless for him for he might just not find his bedroom. Kid Rock, however, loves to acquire properties like land, some cool cars, his plane, He prefers all these than things that would just be a liability in the future if things go awry.

Kid Rock is a Grandfather!

Kid Rock has officially become a grandfather in 2015 with his long-time girlfriend Kelley Russel’s son, Robert James Ritchie Jr.

Rock, who is in his early 40’s, humorously said that he might just be a great-great-grandfather when he reaches 80. Kid Rock seldom shares a picture of his family. The last he shared was in December 2018 where he was with his granddaughter at a Christmas parade in Leipers Fork, Tennessee.

Golfing

Jamey Johnson said that Kid Rock has now been hooked into golf. Johnson added that he might not be a Tiger Woods caliber of a player, but when he plays, he goes out like he has something to prove.

That was not an understatement as records show that Kid Rock has won a ProAm golf tournament and has sunk a 40-foot putt in front of golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
