Gary Allan released his single called “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)” in 2012. They later included the song in “Set You Free,” Allan’s ninth album. The song entered three Billboard charts and became famous because of the meaningful message of encouragement it has for individuals going through difficult times.

Behind the scenes, Gary Allan and his co-writers, Matt Warren and Hillary Lindsey, did minimal editing on the song. According to Matt, there were no tough decisions on the words and phrases of the song. He says the song’s form right now is how they wrote it in terms of melody, structure, and lyrics.

Additionally, Matt Warren says the song was more piano-driven at first because Hillary created the music on a piano. However, when David Stelle played the lick that plays at the top of the song in the studio, it instantly stuck to it. Matt believes it quickly became the song’s hook and reveals it’s his favorite part too.

When asked if they had to demo Gary Allan’s “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)” or work-tape it, Matt says they work-taped it. He says that while Gary and Greg Dorman did some last-round cuts on the music, they generally liked it. Matt adds that Mike Dungan, the head of Universal during that time, loved the song the minute he heard it play.

Although no one thought it’d become one of Gary Allan’s greatest hits during that time, the label’s staff and promo team believed it’d be the perfect song off the record to become the lead single. Matt admits he’s happy they chose the song as the album’s lead single.

The song peaked on the Billboard Country Airplay at the No. 1 spot. It was also No. 1 on the Country Chart and landed at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became Gary Allan’s fourth No. 1 single on the Billboard Country Chart. In 2013, the song got Platinum-certified by the RIAA.

Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain) is one of Gary Allan’s most memorable songs. Want to listen to this highly inspiring and motivating song? Well, you can do so now by clicking here.
