9/11 is a day we will never forget in America, the home of the brave. This tragic event took away thousands of innocent lives. People went into their daily routines without knowing what will happen. The 9/11 attack is one of the most painful and unforgettable events in our history. Who could ever forget the cries of people harmed and the loved ones who were left behind?

Artists Who Expressed their Feelings

The 9/11 event made many artists write songs about it. They spoke up about the pain and the way they felt through music. Artists such as Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Hank Williams Jr., and many more wrote their own songs to express the tragic terrorist attack that affected our lives.

“A Country Boy Can Survive”

In 1982, Williams wrote a song named “A Country Boy Can Survive.” The song tells the story of the life of a man who lives in the country. He made friends with a man who was raised in the city and how they ended up exchanging pictures. Williams’ song climbed the Billboard Country chart and reached No. 2. In addition, the song entered the Canadian chart at No. 2. The song became part of his studio album The Pressure is On.

“A Country Boy Can Survive” to “America Will Survive”

Williams’ song became popular in the 80’s. Then in 2001, he released his song the second time. However, it was not the same as the original version. The tune of the song may be the same but Williams changed the words of the song basing it on the 9/11 event that occurred that year. He first performed the song during the CMT concert. After a few days, he recorded the song and added it as a bonus track on his upcoming album the following year. “America Will Survive” reached No. 45 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

The Message of Hank Williams’ Song

Hank’s song delivers a message that America will stand up after this tragic event. America will unite and become one, there will be no more division. He said that we will survive the tragedy that happened to us. Furthermore, Hank still mentioned the friend who lives in the big city like the same one on the original version of the song. However, this time the man did not die because of mugging. His friend died because of the terrorist attack.
