2. Gabby Barrett

Gabby Barrett, like Carrie Underwood, competed in the 16th season of American Idol. Even though she did not win first place, her involvement in the show helped her rise to prominence. In 2022, the RIAA certified her song “I Hope” six times platinum.

3. Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert also competed on Nashville Star and placed third. She has three Grammy Awards after receiving twenty-five nominations. She became the show’s ninth female performer to win Entertainer of the Year at the 2022 ACM Awards.

4. Maren Morris

In contrast to other country music musicians, Maren’s music mixes a wide range of genres, helping her stand out from the rest. Though she had no intention of becoming a singer, she was inspired after playing at Johnnie High’s, a country music extravaganza akin to the Grand Ole Opry. She understands singing is her true calling. She presently has one Grammy award, five CMA awards, and five ACM awards in her singing career.

Ballerini was mostly into pop music. It wasn’t until Ballerini heard Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy” that she decided to go more into country music, listening to records by Taylor Swift, Sugarland, and the Dixie Chicks. She dropped out of school at the age of 19 to follow her goal of becoming a country singer in Nashville. And all of her hard work paid off since she was able to win five Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, six American Music Awards, and countless more awards during her career.

8. Shania Twain

Many consider her to be the “Queen of Country Pop,” having sold over 100 million albums throughout her career. Twain has won five Grammy Awards. Despite her popularity, Shania Twain has been a polarizing figure in country music, particularly among purists who were first offended by her “genre-blending.” She is also acknowledged as the first of many country performers to cross over into pop music, even by the well-known Taylor Swift.

9. Lee Ann Womack

She was drawn to country music from a young age. Though she began by recording country music songs, such as “Never Again, Again,” which reached the country charts in 1997. She also performed a successful pop crossover with her third studio album, I Hope You Dance, released in 2000. The song spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard Country chart before crossing over to the Billboard Hot 100, becoming a significant crossover Pop hit.

10. Deana Carter

Although Deana Carter is the daughter of the known musician Fred Carter, Jr., she did not have an easy road to a recording contract. However, hard effort always pays off, as her debut album, “Did I Shave My Legs for This,” was certified 5 Multi-Platinum in the United States for sales of over 5 million.
