Better prepare gold for the olds, because nothing spells music like experience and fermentation through time.

Occasionally, we see young artists revive the works from the early generation but now, it’s getting quite common. But to actually see the same set of people re’-release the songs they made for a more robust feel, it’s like posting a Facebook status wherein we say “hey, this is the new me!” henceforth inviting people to look and spark up their curiosity.

Remastered not Revived

This is the strategy for the new live album that Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors did which effectively caught attention, a new breath for their once old 2009 single ‘I Like to Be With Me When I’m With You’ featured in their ‘A Million Miles Away’ album.

But if you think they are ripping their old selves off by reviving their own musical track, well, that’s a wrong perspective to lean at because their album is the story, and the new songs they present including the renditioned singles are only its chapters.

Remember when this single surged back in the modern world when actors Wells Adams and Sarah Hyland used it on their 2019 engagement video? It’s one to thank for the revival as it greatly inspired the engagement pianist Ian Miller who added his personal touch to the version of the song through his fast fingers.

Oldest in their Catalogue

Apparently, for Drew Holcomb and his backing band the Neighbors, ‘I Like to Be With Me When I’m With You’ didn’t really go stagnant over the years. The song has been the longest-running single in their live performance arsenal, meaning it is still in their regular show rotation. One of the reasons they kept the song is that people are loving it so much that the majority of their fans use it for their weddings and would even ask them to do a live performance and guesting on their big day.

The latest rendition of the song included in the live album will be recorded in the Tennessee Theatre. This is the group’s second live album throughout their career and will be fully released this Friday. While pre-saving and pre-purchasing, it has been available for quite some time now in leading music streaming platforms.

Just like putting your favorite pair of shoes, listening to the new version will probably make you love ‘I Like to Be With Me When I’m With You’ even more.
