Covers of the 1980s classic song “I Wouldn’t Be A Man” by Don Williams can be seen all over the internet. One of them is of country gospel singer Josh Turner.

In 2010, as part of his album Haywire, Josh Turner added “I Wouldn’t Be A Man” to the album’s tracklist. His version of the song immediately climbed up the charts, landing at no. 56 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs.

Josh Turner is one of the rising stars in the country music scene today. From his honky-tonk temperament to some of his mellow ballads, indeed, Josh is a new yet real country artist to look out for.

Since the beginning of his career, Turner has continuously made a name for himself through his outstanding music releases. Some of his hit songs like “Long Black Train” and “Me and God” have won him two Song of the Year awards.

But aside from his compositions, his renditions of classic hits like Gentle Giant’s “I Wouldn’t Be a Man” have garnered listeners’ attention.

In the latter’s music video posted on his YouTube channel, listeners couldn’t help but comment on how powerful yet subtle Turner’s voice is, with some even calling him one of the most underrated country artists today.

What makes Josh Turner’s cover more interesting is that the girl in his music video is his actual wife, who was pregnant with their child then. From how he looks at her throughout the video and the cute belly rub at the end, these tiny details that feel warm and genuine are the reasons why fans fall in love with Turner’s music even more.

As of 2024, the music video has garnered over 9.5 million views, making it one of Josh Turner’s greatest hits.

So, if you want to watch Josh Turner’s version of “I Wouldn’t Be a Man,” you can watch his music video below.
