Jennifer Ford, or more popularly known as Josh Turner’s wife, has been the multi-platinum selling artist’s biggest cheerleader before he even debuted in 2001. They’re musical collaborators, best friends, and parents to four lovely children.

The Love Story: From Musical Collaborators to Partners In Life

Josh Turner and Jennifer Ford’s love story is considered by many as one of the most beautiful love stories in country music. Since getting hitched in 2003, the couple’s relationship has only gotten stronger.

Josh Turner finished his primary and secondary education in his home state South Carolina. Then he enrolled in Francis Marion University before transferring to Nashville’s Belmont University, a private liberal arts institute, under its Music program in 1998.

During that time, Jennifer Ford was also attending the same university. Ford caught Turner’s eye and that was the start of their friendship that turned into a love story. In a book that Turner published in 2014 titled Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family, and Fatherhood, he said that meeting Jennifer wasn’t planned or expected, but he felt that their friendship was completely different. He also added that it was the first time that he was truly on cloud nine, and it was just unbelievable.

The couple did not rush things and in fact, they had taken it real slow. The couple started going out in 2000, and Turner said that Ford only called him her boyfriend six months into dating.

And in November 2002, while they were on an outing at Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake, Turner finally asked for Ford’s hand in marriage. But before pulling the engagement ring out of his pocket, he performed a song he wrote for her titled “I Can See It In Your Smile.”

The couple tied the knot on June 14, 2003 at the Snellville United Methodist Church in front of 500 guests.

The Married Life and Four Kids

Josh Turner and Jennifer Ford welcomed their first child, Hampton Otis, on October 6, 2006 in the Baptist Hospital in Nashville. MCA Nashville announced the good news, which was followed by the platinum certification of his album “Your Man.” Turner was very happy and thankful for the blessings in his career and his life.

Three years later in 2009, the couple was blessed with their second child named Colby Lynch. It was June 26th and Turner was doing the finishing touches on his fourth album. Baby Colby arrived in perfect timing just hours after Josh left the studio.

A year later on December 13, they had their third child Marion Crawford. And in 2014, they welcomed their fourth child Samuel Hawke.

In an interview with People, Turner said that Jennifer was not the type to hand off a child the minute he gets back. But he did note that he was very hands-on with the kids, and he would help as much as he could.

As for their marriage, Josh mentioned in his book that it hasn’t been trouble-free, but it has been as beautiful and powerful as they had hoped. In an interview, he also revealed the secret to their happy union, which basically was just being friends and keeping the communication line open even in arguments.

Josh also emphasized making the marriage a priority and never letting the children or work or anything else take over it. The couple loved to take some time together to reconnect whenever they could. And at the same time, they also take a break from each other every once in a while so they can enjoy their times together.

For Turner, Jennifer is and has always been his biggest cheerleader.

Music Collaborations

Aside from being lovers and parents, the two also often do professional collaborations. Josh Turner’s spouse is a very talented keyboardist who also did backing vocals for his live band while he toured.

Jennifer Ford also starred in two of Turner’s music videos – 2005 “Your Man” and 2010 “I Wouldn’t Be a Man.” And for Turner’s 2018 Gospel album “I Serve A Savior,” Jennifer and their oldest son Hampton co-wrote an original song titled “The River (Of Happiness).” Josh Turner’s children performed the song live at Gaither Studio.

As they say, behind a successful man is a wonderful woman. And Josh Turner’s wife is definitely one of the reasons he is one of the most successful country music artists today.
