Kelly Clarkson wrote “Because Of You” after coping with emotional distress caused by her parents’ divorce when she was 6 years old. When her parents got separated so she resided with her mom. Her mom was always busy so she had to make her own food to eat.

I will not make
The same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break
The way you did, you fell so hard

Lyrically, “Because of You” explains the pain of Clarkson’s relationship with her father. It also shows the burden being carried by Clarkson which gave her the strength to show the world that after facing her life’s challenges, she rose up having a brave heart.

To wrap up, Clarkson’s song made her realize not to repeat the same mistakes that her parents did because she already knows the feeling of having a broken family. In addition, the divorce that happened caused her to be scared of falling in love.
