Laine Hardy wowed everyone with his amazing performance of Hank Williams’ classic hit song “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” during the American Idol 2019 Finale, which earned him the title for the season.

Written by Hank Williams and Moon Mullican, the song was initially released by Williams in 1952 as a single with his Drifting Cowboys. Due to its massive influence among old and new country singers, the song was eventually inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002.

Because of how iconic the original song is, it was only natural for aspiring country singers like Laine Hardy to pick this song for his final performance during the American Idol Season 7 finale – and he made the right choice.
