In 2018, before he shot his chance to participate in the popular TV series “American Idol,” Laine Hardy was known for his acoustic covers of classic songs like “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

Despite his young age, Laine has proved to everyone that he has what it takes to make it to the Idol stage. His cover of the hit gospel song garnered the attention of many listeners who find his voice soothingly perfect for this type of music.

Released in 1907, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” was a hymn by Ada Habershon. It was later recognized as a gospel song when musician Charles Gabriel decided to create a melody for it. As it slowly started becoming a hit among Christian listeners and was being sung around the globe, it eventually became a standard for country singers.

Among the long list of artists who made their cover of the song, Laine Hardy’s version is one of the most known today. And here’s why.

Laine Hardy’s Moving Cover!

Aside from the song’s deep and soul-touching meaning, there is just something in Laine Hardy’s version that fans couldn’t get enough of.

His raspy country vocals blended well with the song’s catchy tune, and with his amazing guitar-playing talent, the song sounded just like the original.

Despite being just 18 years old when he released the cover, his version somehow sounds like something we could hear from a legendary country singer of the 1900s. His winning the seventeenth season of American Idol testifies just how great of an artist he is.

So, if you haven’t checked out Laine Hardy’s amazing cover of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” you can watch his full performance below.
