Grammy-winning country star Lainey Wilson is taking her wardrobe malfunction in stride.
Wilson was performing her headlining set at the Faster Horses Festival 2024 on the grounds of Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on July 20 when her signature bell-bottom pants ripped. She immediately slipped backstage, with her microphone still in hand, and asked the jampacked crowd to give her a few minutes to change. And according to the “Heart Like A Truck” singer, the swapping out of jeans wasn’t fun when you’re sweating. She had to jump into it to fit.
As she returned to the stage and got up on her truck in a new pair of jeans, she remained in good spirits, and everyone welcomed her back with cheers. In fact, in a fan-captured video posted on TikTok, she even opened with a joke, “Y’all just about got a real show.” She then continued, “There’s a first time for everything, and I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of.” She also quipped that she wouldn’t have known about it had the backstage staff not alerted her.

One TikTok user commented on the video, “she’s so dang genuine & funny!” Another wrote, “I was at Faster Horses too! She’s absolutely Amazing and put on one hell of a show ♥️♥️.”
This wasn’t the first time, though, that her pants went viral. Last December 2022, a clip of her and her fine-looking butt in leopard-print flare bottoms made rounds on TikTok and even earned her some new fans! It also prompted a lot of women to flex their own backsides.
After the stage fiasco, Wilson went on Instagram to show the new addition to her routine before performances so her britches wouldn’t rip again: testing out the strength of her pants by squatting, doing high knees, and dancing side-to-side. Fittingly, she used “Hang Tight Honey” as the background track of her reel.
This will definitely prove helpful in ensuring everything remains intact as she finishes over 40 more scheduled concerts on the extensive North American leg of her tour until the end of the year. The tour is in support of Lainey Wilson’s upcoming fifth studio album, Whirlwind, which will be released on August 23. Check out the 14-song tracklist here.
