“Let It Go” is George Strait’s Country Reminder To Be Happy With What You’ve Got

In 2015, The King of Country found himself climbing the charts once again with his song “Let It Go.”

Released as the lead-off single from his studio album Cold Beer Conversation, the song peaked at No. 18 on US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles while No. 29 on US Hot Country Songs. This is Strait’s first release ever since he fully retired from the road. He didn’t release any new music in 2014 while concluding his final tour, The Cowboy Rides Away Tour.

This means “Let It Go” is Strait’s first to aim for the top of radio charts without any tour to support it.

Here’s A Friendly Reminder From George Strait

Written by George Strait along with his friend Dean Dillon and his son Bubba Strait, “Let It Go” is a laid back, country reminder that though life may sometimes be tough, you still have to be happy with what you’ve got.

Because in this world: “It’s all just stuff, it ain’t ever enough. And you can’t take it with you, so you might as well just let it go. Yeah, you really oughta let it go. Let it all wash on under the bridge, blow it a kiss. Give it a rest ’cause it is what it is,” the song goes.

Indeed, this is the ultimate truth. After all, material possessions really don’t mean anything in the grand scheme. You don’t have to have a lot to be happy with your life.

“It says a lot. I mean, all that stuff is all just stuff, and then you die,” Rogers laughingly said. “All that other stuff don’t mean a lot…You just can’t get too wrapped up in all your things, because it’s all just dust like the song says, and you can’t get enough, you know, so just be happy with what you have.”

Such a pretty good message you got there!

And guess we could all agree that there’s nothing better than George Strait singing an easy-going country song. His mellow voice made the song easy-to-embrace, and with the ukulele, steel drum, steel guitar, and fiddle hanging out in the background, you’d think “Let It Go” is a beach song. It’s as calming as it can get.

Tune in and watch George Strait’s performance of “Let It Go” in the video below as he shows everyone that even new music can be just as timeless.
