Luke Combs’ “Beautiful Crazy” was the most-played song of the past twelve months in 2019, according to Country Aircheck, helping Combs launched his career and bring him as far as where he is right now.

Fans first fell in love with Luke Combs‘ “Beautiful Crazy” upon his release of ‘This One’s for You Too’, the deluxe reissue of his studio debut, on which it was a newly added track. But even before its official release, the song has already gained viral fan attention through Combs’ live performances of the ballad.

Well, there’s no doubt to that, with its incredibly catchy and personal lyrics, you can’t help but sing along with it. This makes us wonder what inspires Luke Combs to write this song?

Beautiful Crazy: The Song That Launched Luke Combs Career

The song “Beautiful Crazy” was penned by Luke Combs himself, together with Wyatt Durrette and Robert Williford. It showcased the softer side of the North Carolina native who is more known for his high-energy, hard-rocking musical style.

But perhaps what makes this track extra special is the simple fact that Luke wrote it for his fiancée Nicole Hocking before they even started dating and it has become the first in a line of sweet songs inspired by their relationship.

The song includes romantic verses like, “Well it kind of scares me the way that she drives me wild,” and, “Beautiful, crazy, she can’t help but amaze me.”

Combs said that he got inspired by a poem his friend sent him shortly after he met his fiancée, Nicole Hocking. “I was really worried that she would think that I was weird for writing a song about her…before we were even dating, but it worked out,” the country star revealed.

Guess Combs crossed out two of his bucket list items. He did not only “got me some serious brownie points” from Hocking but also got the attention of the entire country music world.

The song “Beautiful Crazy” marks Combs’ fastest trip to Number One on the Billboard Country Airplay with only 16 weeks passed by since it was serviced to radio for airplay and it stayed there for an amazing seven weeks. It also landed on the top slot of Hot Country Songs, Country Streaming Songs, and Country Digital Song Sales charts.

When “Beautiful Crazy” topped the charts in March 2019, Luke Combs became the first country artist in history whose first five singles reached No. 1

During the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards, Combs was up for two trophies: Male Artist of the Year and New Male Artist of the Year and the song “Beautiful Crazy” was Combs’ choice for his turn on the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He delivered a powerful vocal showing and the big radio hit inspired the audience to light up the room by raising their cell phone flashlight in the air.

And in November 2019, Combs won big at 2019 Country Music Association Awards as  “Beautiful Crazy” won Song of the Year.

“I don’t know where to start,” a surprised Combs said from the stage, before giving up the mic to his co-writers. However, he managed to thank his beautiful fiancee “for being the inspiration behind this song.

Combs admitted that he was thrilled with all the CMA love and recognition, but he particularly wanted “Beautiful Crazy” to win Song of the Year.  “Obviously getting the Male Vocalist nod is a really huge deal for me, but I’m most excited about Song of the Year,” Combs said.

He added, “That song ‘Beautiful Crazy’ is really special for me and my fiancee. It’s the story of how we met and how we’re going to, you know, end up spending the rest of our lives together, which is really awesome. I would love to have that moment, not only for myself but for her and have that to share in forever. So I would love to be able to take that one home.”

Recently, for the ACM Presents: Our Country, last April 5, Luke Combs did an acoustic rendition of his 2019 No. 1 hit “Beautiful Crazy” and you can absolutely feel his charisma flowing into it.

Not only does it get you singing along to every note, but it also makes you want to go deep inside Luke Combs and Nicole Hocking’s love story.

Luke Combs and his fiancee, Nicole Hocking are expected to walk down the aisle this year while Combs continues to make a name for himself in the country music.

Despite accomplishing so many things in the past year, the singer still aims to write better songs, he said, “We’ve had a lot of success and I’m very thankful for that, but I always want to get better at that. And then always making the show better and that’s something that we still have a lot of work to do.”

Guess we can expect more songs from Combs for the upcoming months and we can’t just wait for it.
