Chris Stapleton went for his six-peat win as Male Vocalist of the Year at the CMA 2022. He beat fellow musicians Eric Church, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, and Morgan Wallen and surpassed Vince Gill, Blake Shelton, and George Strait, who have all won the category five times.
The country artist first won the title in 2015 and reigned until 2018. His hot streak took on a pause when Luke Combs won in 2019 and 2020. He regained the title and this Wednesday night win marked his second consecutive year.

As he held his trophy, Chris Stapleton shared his appreciation to all those who have supported him through the years. He said, “This is a dream every minute we get to live this. I’m evidence that dreams come true all the time, so thank you, thank you to everybody.”
Stapleton won three Grammy Awards earlier in the year, including Best Country Album for his late 2020 record Starting Over. He has also been the subject of a Country Music Hall of Fame Exhibit. And on top of that, he is also one of the most prolific touring acts this year.
The CMA Awards 2022 was broadcasted live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning as the evening’s hosts.
