In 2021, as part of their album “Inhale (Exhale),” MercyMe released yet another chart-topping gospel song titled “Almost Home.”

The group has released innumerable hit songs since the beginning of their career, including “I Can Only Imagine,” which won them a Dove Award in 2002, and “Here with Me,” which peaked at number one on the Christian Songs chart and debuted at number twelve on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Aside from that, “Almost Home,” which peaked at number 23 on the Hot Christian Songs list, is also regarded as one of the band’s best singles of all time. Due to its appealing contemporary beat, audiences have grown to love it, and even Christian churches have now made it a staple song pick during Sunday gatherings.

However, aside from its congruous tune, the meaning behind the song has also hooked many fans, as it is uplifting in so many ways.

So, if you want to know the meaning behind MercyMe’s hit gospel song “Almost Home,” scroll down as we have everything covered for you!

Meaning Behind the Song

“Almost Home,” a stirring and inspiring anthem that connects with people worldwide, was written by Bart Millard, the band’s main vocalist. This moving song tells listeners to never give up, even in the face of adversity, and to keep going since something better awaits them at the end of the journey.

According to reports, the song was created to resonate with what Millard’s youth pastor had said to him during an emotional conversation. The pastor stated that life is short, and for us to live our best lives, we must move forward despite any storm.

“Almost Home” is just Millard’s way of telling his fellow Christians that no matter how hard things become, someone will always help you along the road. It might be God, your partner, family, or friends.
