In 2024, American rapper Post Malone released the country bop “Pour Me A Drink,” featuring country superstar Blake Shelton – and let’s say, it was far beyond what people expected. The Sunflower singer is known to be one of the most famous rappers of this generation. But in this song, he proves to everyone that he is one of the most versatile artists there is. Releasing a country hit isn’t too surprising as he released his first country single as the lead artist in “I Had Some Help” featuring Morgan Wallen in May.

In “Pour Me a Drink,” instead of using his iconic “Laconic” vocal style, Malone sang more nasally, giving the song an authentic country feel.

Throughout the song, the warmth of Malone and Shelton’s friendship radiates. The duo wanted to create a feel-good anthem that would go down perfectly with a cold beer on a Friday night. That is why the two ended up trading the lyrics playfully, adding bits of their unique style to it – and let’s just say the end product was something more than they imagined.

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Post Malone, Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome, John Byron, Jordan Dozzi, and Rocky Block, the song is simply a reminder that no matter how bad your day is, nothing beats having a good old Friday night drink.

In the song, the protagonist keeps on pointing out the hardships he has to go through every day, from making ends meet to finding the love of his life. But as soon as his friend reminded him of what’s good in life, the protagonist started desiring to enjoy a beer-soaked, carefree Friday night without minding how they celebrate it.

So, if you’re experiencing a tough week, listen to Post Malone and Blake Shelton’s “Pour Me A Drink.” It’ll surely lighten up your mood.
