The world of country music is one big family consisting of artists, songwriters, fans, you name it. And if one is without the other, it’s not really complete. So as proof of the undying legacy of one of country music legends, Kelly Clarkson made herself a vessel of Johnny Cash’s memory through her ‘Ring of Fire’ performance in her ‘Kellyoke’ segment.

Packing a Punch

Through the newest segment of her hit talk show ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, ‘Kellyoke’ where Clarkson becomes a real-life karaoke machine, she sings the late artist Johnny Cash single ‘Ring of Fire’ with a fiery passion.

This single has brought Cash seven consecutive weeks top on country charts when the late artist released it in the year 1963, more than half a century ago.

Co-written by songwriters June Carter Cash and Merle Kilgore, that single gained more popularity in its prime when it also got hailed among the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” as declared by Rolling stone. It was also recognized by CMT as part of their “CMT’s 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music.”

Brought Back to Life

But that’s not the only reason why we must applaud Kelly Clarkson for singing the song. If you would compare her Kellyoke cover to Cash’s original, you would hardly hear differences. In other words, the cover by Kelly Clarkson is a straight-up carbon copy, thus gaining recognition by country legends and fans alike who still live today and had followed Cash’s work.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, despite being named after the singer, does not live for the title itself. Through its fun segments, the way it challenges Kelly Clarkson through the varieties of music is what truly fascinates everyone. It’s like she has the ability to bring back great artists from the afterlife to guest on her show through her singing prowess.

Talking further about ‘Kellyoke,’ Clarkson also did great covers of songs by various artists living in the same generation as her. Among those are Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Travis Tritt, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, and many more.
