2. He Has a Congenital Disorder

For those who don’t know, Ronnie Milsap was born in Robbinsville, North Carolina, with congenital glaucoma, which rendered him practically blind at birth. Despite this, he was able to fulfill his ambition of becoming a musician.

4. His Mother Abandoned Him When He Was Still a Child

Milsap received a full college scholarship and temporarily attended Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia, with the intention of becoming a lawyer. However, in 1964, he refused the scholarship and dropped out of college to pursue a full-time career in music.

7. He Once Formed a Rock and Roll Band

With Elvis Presley‘s national breakthrough in 1956, Milsap, like other music fans, got interested in rock and roll music to the point where he decided to start his own rock band, the Apparitions, with fellow high-school classmates.

8. He Is Now an Amateur Radio Operator 

Ronnie Milsap is a man of many talents. And due to his appealing voice, he is now an Advanced-class amateur radio operator with a call sign of WB4KCG.

9. He Was a Man of Multiple Awards

He received several awards, including one of his most well-known, the Grammy award, for his chart-topping interpretation of Kris Kristofferson’s “Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends.” He was also named ACM’s 1982 Top Male Vocalist.
