Sarah Buxton began her career not as a solo artist but as a songwriter. She started writing music when she was young. She also knows how to play the piano and flute. Buxton wrote songs and sang as backup vocalists for various artists like Kenny Rogers, John Corbett, and Cowboy Troy.

Sarah Buxton was born on July 3, 1980, in Lawrence, Kansas. She discovered her love of music at a very young age. Knowing what she wants in life made it easy for her what to pursue as she grew up, however, it wasn’t easy for her.

Her Downfall

When she moved to Nashville to study at Belmont University, she started her own band, Stoik Oak. The band had been together only for three years. She got married at 22 and had a divorce shortly after the marriage. It was a tough time for her that she almost gave up on finding herself in the world of music. When her friend John Rich told her to pursue a solo career, Buxton gave it a try, and it went well.

Keith Urban recorded in 2006 Sarah’s song “Stupid Boy” for his album Love, Pain, and The Whole Crazy Thing. His version of the song made it to the No. 3 spot of the Billboard Hot Country Chart.

Her First Album

In 2007, Sarah Buxton released her first EP under the Lyric Street Records. Her EP, Almost My Record, included the songs “Innocence” and “That Kind of Day,” both of which entered the Billboard Chart. “Innocence” peaked at No. 31, while “That Kind of Day” peak at No. 26 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

“Outside My Window”

Sarah’s highest peak on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart was her song “Outside My Window.” Her song secure the 23rd position on the chart. The song was written by Sarah Buxton, Victoria Shaw, Gary Burr and Mark Hudson. “Outside My Window” is a song that tells a story of a girl trying to see the positive side of life even if it is crazy sometimes.

First Studio Album

She released her first self-titled studio album in 2010, which also included her songs from her EP. Her first album performed well on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart as it landed on the 12th spot of the chart.

Songwriter

As good as she is in singing, Sarah is blessed with a talent for writing music. She has written numerous songs for various artists. She wrote for Big & Rich, The Band Perry, Trisha Yearwood and Florida Georgia Line. Some of the songs she co-wrote appeared on the TV show Nashville.
