Dan + Shay singer, Shay Mooney is one of the most well-known country singers today and there is a huge probability that his sons had inherited his genes and might follow his footsteps into country music stardom. However, Mooney has other plans.

Mooney as a Stay-at-Home Dad

Aside from being one of the most famous voices in country music today, Shay Mooney has found a new job while everyone is taking a break from getting into tours and on the road.

Shay Mooney is now a certified stay-at-home dad, and he thinks it cool! He fathers two sons, a 3-year-old Asher James, and a newborn Ames Alexander. Mooney had the privilege to stay home and watch his little Ames play with his saucer which he did not have the pleasure of seeing in Asher. Celebrity duties, he has to go on extensive tours almost the whole year-round.

Just when most thought that Shay Mooney will be passing his legacy to his son, he expressed that he has other plans for them. Mooney is determined about not wanting his sons to follow in his footsteps, chasing his country music dreams. He said that it is his “worst fear” that his kids will become singers one day. He’d rather encourage his kids to explore the things that they got and to be smarter.

He added saying, “It’s hard man, it’s hard. Do something smart. Be smarter than me … This is all I got.”

2020 Commercial Success

Dan + Shay is probably one of the best country duos today. Producing timeless hit songs that everyone loves, Dan  + Shay has built its country music dynasty over the years. Their most recent success commercially came in today, when they won the 55th ACM Award for the best duo of the year. They beat out a stocked batch of competitors that include Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Florida George Line, and Maddie & Tae. The award was the first one to be handed out in the evening of the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards and broadcasted on CBS.

For Dan + Shay, winning the award in 2020 brings more meaning to them. Mooney says that in such a time when everyone‘s movement was restricted and was forced to stay home, yet to still be recognized and acknowledge by the fans and to feel their love for them, means so much for the both of them.
