At last! Here it is! Sugarland fans and Swifties are dying for this. The duo and the country-pop princess' song collaboration finally has its music video.
Released two months earlier, the song "Babe" is the first collaboration of American duo Sugarland and Country/Pop princess Taylor Swift. The song has a bit of a tough story. To note, it was co-written by Swift herself and Train's Patrick Monahan in 2013 for one of Swift's albums back then. However, it did not materialize and was kept on the shelves. Swift then expressed her interest of having a collaboration with Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush). This was earlier revealed in an interview at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards.
The Music Video: Taylor Swift's Concept and Idea
Infidelity. Other Woman. Extramarital Affair.
These words describe the theme of the newly released music video of the said collaboration. The 1960's-inspired video was released on Saturday, June 9, and as of now, it has over 2.5 million views on Youtube.
Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland) sings the lead vocals and plays as the wife of American actor and Superman lead role Brandon Routh. On the other hand, Taylor Swift, who sings the backing vocals, is a red-haired woman. In the music video, Swift acts as the other woman who flirts with Routh, the husband of Nettles. She eventually ruins their seemingly perfect marriage.
In an exclusive interview, Nettles revealed that it was Swift who conceptualized the music video. Nettles said:
“She actually reached out to us and said, ‘I’ve got a great idea for the video,’ and she wrote the treatment.”
On the other hand, many fans consider that Taylor wrote this in 2013 as inspired by one of his ex-boyfriends Harry Styles.

About the Song
Recorded by American country music duo Sugarland, "Babe" is one of the latest songs of the duo. Interestingly, it features the guest vocals of country-pop singer & songwriter Taylor Swift. The song was originally penned by Swift herself with Patrick Monahan of Train for Swift's 2012 album Red.
On April 20, 2018, "Babe" was released by Big Machine Records. It was the second single from the upcoming sixth studio album of Sugarland titled Bigger.
In an interview with ABC News Radio, Pat Monahan revealed that he first talked about the song in 2013. According to him, he asked Taylor Swift about collaborating on a song for Train's next album. In response, Swift asked Monahan to co-write a song for her album, Red. Both then worked together and penned what "Babe" is now. However, the song was not included on the album.
More of an acoustic, mid-tempo country and pop ballad, "Babe" is about breaking up from a loved one. According to Rolling Stone's Brittney McKenna, the "foot-stomping" song bears a resemblance to Swift's Speak Now era. Nettles handles the lead vocals while Swift contributes to the song's backing vocals, which can be heard echoing in the chorus and the bridge. Lyrically, the song addresses a former lover.
