Thomas Rhett has become one of the biggest names in country music over the past few years. He took Music City by storm with songs that mixed the southern swagger with pop hooks that truly were a hit to fans. So, it was no surprise when Thomas Rhett songs were among the most played tracks in the genre.

And today, we’re going to get to know more about him! Check out these facts about Thomas Rhett.

1. He is a native of Valdosta, Georgia.

Born on March 30, 1990, Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. grew up following his father on his singing tours. This explains why he spent his early childhood with some of the biggest names in country music, like Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton.

2. His father is also a country star.

Rhett’s father, Thomas Rhett Akins, Sr. – more famously known as Rhett Akins – has been in the country music scene since the 1990s and enjoyed several hits. Today, he spends most of his time writing songs for artists like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Blake Shelton.

3. His parents divorced when he was nine.

Because of his father’s career demands, Rhett’s parents divorced and happily remarried.

When Rhett was younger, his father would take him up the stage during shows, where he would play the drums.

5. He went to college in Music City.

The country singer went to Lipscomb University in Nashville, where he first took Kinesiology but dropped out after the first four days of class. He later on picked up a business major but dropped out as well after finding out that he had to take an Excel spreadsheet class. Without any clue on which path he wanted to go down, Rhett ended up doing organizational communications.

6. He played baseball and soccer in high school.

He even thought of playing soccer forever until an injury permanently put those plans on hold.
