A father’s love for his daughter is undeniably incomparable. Indeed, the greatest gift that a daughter can receive from a father. Meanwhile, a daughter’s reverence and adoration to her father is the utmost sentiment that no other man can overpower.  “My Little Girl” is one of the best songs ever penned about a devoted father to his daughter. On the other hand, Tim McGraw outpoured his sentimentality in this particular song. Many fathers out there will be reminded of their daughters, the memories of their baby’s childhood, and how they protected their daughters.

The Song…

“My Little Girl” portrays a father who will always treat his growing daughter, his “little girl.” It means he will always be there no matter what. Also, the father will still be the first man to be in the girl’s life. Honestly, an inspiring song that a father and a daughter can relate to.

Tom Douglas and Tim McGraw himself pooled resources at writing and furnishing “My Little Girl.” It was released in August 2006 as part of McGraw’s album “Tim McGraw Reflected: Greatest Hits Vol. 2.” The song reached top 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Furthermore, “My Little Girl” was nominated as “Best Song” in 2006 by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

Undeniably, McGraw dedicates his music to his family, to his loving wife Faith Hill and his princesses. It only proves that this man is an epitome of a committed husband and an affectionate father.

The Lyrics…

Gotta hold on easy as I let you go

Going to tell you how much I love you

Though you think you already know

I remember I thought you looked like an angel

Wrapped in pink, so soft and warm

You’ve had me wrapped around your finger

Since the day you were born

You’re beautiful baby, from the outside in

Chase your dreams but always know

The road that will lead you home again

Go on, take on this old world but to me

You know you’ll always be my little girl

When you were in trouble that crooked little smile

Could melt my heart of stone

Now look at you

I turned around and you’ve almost grown

Sometimes when you’re asleep

I whisper I love you in the moonlight at your door

As I walk away, I hear you say

Daddy love you more

You’re beautiful baby, from the outside in

Chase your dreams but always know

The road that will lead you home again

Go on, take on this old world but to me

You know you’ll always be my little girl

Someday some boy will come and ask me for your hand

But I won’t say yes to him

Unless I know he’s the half that makes you whole

He has a poet’s soul and the heart of a man’s man

I know he’ll say that he’s in love

But between you and me, he won’t be good enough
