In 2013, country singer Alan Jackson sang his heart out when he released his amazing cover of the iconic gospel hit “Love Lifted Me” as part of his album Precious Memories Volume II

Written by James Rowe, the song was originally released as a hymn in 1912. Inspired by the 14th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, the hymn immediately became a hit with Christian listeners. It was only when Howard E. Smith composed a melody for the hymn that it eventually became a standard in gospel music.

Over the years, country singers like Kenny Rogers released versions of the song, which allowed the hymn to be heard by many across the globe. As it slowly started becoming a staple song played in churches, “Love Lifted Me” continued to spread the message of God through its beautiful melody and uplifting lyrics.

The most recent cover of the gospel song that wowed everyone was Alan Jackson’s 2013 cover. And here’s everything you need to know about it.

Alan Jackson’s Soul-touching Cover!

Growing up in a Christian community, Alan Jackson has always had a close-knit relationship with God. As someone who grew up listening to contemporary gospel songs, it’s not surprising why he loves releasing covers of songs that talk about the power and kindness of God.

In his cover of “Love Lifted Me,” Jackson beautifully showcased how his unmistakable exquisite voice is perfect for spreading the words of God. Compared to the original, Jackson’s cover definitely had modern hints to it. Despite that, his voice and aura still scream traditional country music

His version was so good that his album, Precious Memories Volume II secured a spot on the Christian Albums Chart and Top Country Albums in the same year of its release – making it one of Alan Jackson’s greatest gospel hits

So if you are looking for a perfect song to uplift your spirit, listen to Alan Jackson’s amazing cover of “Love Lifted Me” below.
